The
GUARDIC ROM cartridge is released in 1986 / 87 under the logo
COMPILE according to their official history, and on their favorite
machine the MSX (here it's MSX 1).
This game,
which some screenshots are available on this page, is a shooting
game with a ZANAC touch but with multi directionnal-scrolling
labyrinth where rooms are filled with enemies to shoot, you must
also manage the ship's power, that you can recharge collecting
some power ups.
There is
a practice mode with varied and amazing stages, with reference
to other games. These screenshots come from the official ZANACxZANAC.com.
To get the practice mode, at the title screen, do left, right,
left, right, left, right and there you are in. It seems that you
can get sound test in the same way at the hi-score screen.

Another
later version exists, GUARDIC GAIDEN which propose 2 sort of games
(let see the GUARDIC GAIDEN rubric, you will see it's shooting
game too), some music theme are re-used, you can discover these
themes in the following rubric :
